Data You Give Us Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that operates that result flow. Orange Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If a visitor contacts the operators, the message and any details included in it are received only to respond and handle the request.
Data Gathered Automatically
Hosting systems can record ordinary technical logs such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Aggregate use may help maintain the pages and understand which records topics are useful. Cookies or similar tools may also support basic analytics or, when present, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
The limited information described above is used to operate the pages, find technical faults, measure general traffic, and improve the reference. The operators do not sell visitor lists or build a personal profile of an individual reader.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to Orange city and county portals, California agencies, courts, libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. The destination’s policy controls what a visitor submits there. That includes sponsored search results, which are supplied by another company.
Who May Receive Data
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs while supporting the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it; it is not disclosed for unrelated purposes.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes that need them. There are no Orange Residents Directory accounts, so the service does not hold a password or user profile that could be exposed.
Users Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The operators do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a visitor believes a minor sent information to the contact mailbox, the visitor may ask for that information to be removed.
California Data Rights
Depending on the circumstances, California’s Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., provides rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of covered personal information, subject to its exemptions. The California Delete Act, Civil Code sections 1798.99.80 et seq., created the DROP platform. California residents may submit one request through DROP to registered data brokers; required broker processing began August 1, 2026, after the platform opened January 1, 2026.
Because this reference keeps very little, a request usually involves checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by Orange, Orange County, California, or federal offices are outside the operators’ control; the City of Orange request channel explains one local route. Separate voter protections appear in Government Code section 7924.000, and address confidentiality is described by Safe at Home. A deletion or correction request for a source record belongs with its custodian.
Updates to This Policy
